Maintenance based on traditional values
The history of the maintenance depots dates back a long time and is the reason for our far-reaching expertise.
Founded in 2001, DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung is still a relatively young company. However, almost all our maintenance depots have existed for more than 100 years.

Up to 1997
The heavy-maintenance depots (C depots) are part of the "Traction and Depots" business segment of DB AG.
The C depots are integrated into the various freight and passenger transport stock companies.
2001: Founding year of DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung
At the beginning of the year, heavy maintenance and the specialist depots are consolidated as part of an extensive restructuring programme under the newly founded T.I unit in the Technology Division of DB AG.
Upon completion of the restructuring phase, T.I is given its own independent legal structure under the name "DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung GmbH" and assigned to the Services unit.
Under the name Services Business Unit, the unit is then integrated into the Infrastructure, Services and Technology Board Division.
Against the backdrop of the planned privatisation of the DB Group,
DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung is assigned to DB Mobility Logistics AG.
A new board division is established at DB: Technology, Integrated Systems and Services (T). It includes the Services Business Unit and thus also DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung.
At the beginning of 2011, DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung assumes Group-wide responsibility for materials management and operational purchasing for rolling stock replacement parts.

The Board of Directors is extended in June with the addition of Production as the fourth division.
On 1 November, Uwe Fresenborg becomes the Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors of DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung.
Restructuring of the management organisation of DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung: introduction of business-focused, cross-depot business units.
Jeroen Hansmann assumes the position of Managing Director for Human Resources at
DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung on 1 February.
Oliver Terhaag, Managing Director Production, leaves the company. Philip Janssen assumes his responsibilities as the Chief Operating Officer (COO).
On 1 June, the organisation is restructured yet again. DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung is now part of the Traffic and Transport Board Division (V).
On 1 January 2017, a functional structure is set up at DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung. The Production Division and system segments are dissolved. All business-related functions are combined in the Chairman Division. The Sales unit is centralised and geared towards customer structures.
Jeroen Hansmann, Managing Director for Human Resources, leaves the company by end of March.
Ramona Grün starts as Managing Director for Human Resources on 1 August.
Arno Störk, Managing Director Finance and Controlling, leaves the company by end of January.
Karsten Reinhardt starts as Managing Director Finance and Controlling on 1 February.
Uwe Fresenborg, CEO, leaves the company by end of July.
On 1 July, Gorden Falk becomes the Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors of DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung.
Philip Janssen, Chief Operating Officer (COO) , leaves the company by end of August.
DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung is part of the Digitalization and Technology Board Division (T) from 1 January.
Nico Petersen starts as Managing Director for Production on 15 March.
