Article: 500th Vectron locomotive commissioned – a milestone at the Dessau maintenance depot
Both the Österreichische Bundesbahnen (ÖBB) and Siemens have been regular and valued customers at the Dessau maintenance depot of DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung GmbH for many years. Nevertheless, the 500th commissioning of a Vectron locomotive at our maintenance depot is something special.
Our aim is to carry out end-customer acceptance efficiently, collaboratively and with a customer-focused approach. As Dessau is not geographically close for some customers, we bundle locomotive packages and coordinate scheduling specifically – enabling our customers to plan their journey optimally. The close integration between production and sales ensures a smooth process.
The positive feedback from our Austrian customer’s project management team confirms this: “We are happy to make the extra journey, as we are very satisfied with the service at the Dessau maintenance depot and feel well looked after here.”
Commissioning is a key component of DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung’s ‘Fit for the Future’ programme, through which we are focusing on future-proof series and innovative solutions – including, and particularly, for international customers.
Further locomotives are already scheduled for commissioning and customer acceptance this year. Together with Siemens, we are continuing to successfully shape the Vectron project.
