As one of the largest employers at many sites in Germany, we are always aware of our role and the responsibility we have to our employees. We know that well motivated and high performing employees are crucial for us to succeed and reach our shared goals. This is why we consider it highly important to foster the well-being of our employees and develop their career prospects at our company. Among other things, we continuously improve the satisfaction of our employees by ensuring they have attractive employment conditions, whatever their situation in their career or in life. Lifelong learning, individual employee development and work-life balance are key components of these efforts. 

Promoting health and ergonomic workplace design 

Promoting health in the long term is one of our key priorities, and it contributes to the success of our company. We offer our employees numerous benefits to promote their health, for example in the areas of nutrition, exercise and mental health. Our employees can also seek out individual advice from points of contact set up specifically for that purpose. We also focus on workplace organisation. We help promote the health of our employees through preventive actions, an ergonomic workplace design and by influencing factors in the immediate working environment that have an impact. 

Training and professional development 

As a future-oriented company, we constantly invest in the further qualification of our employees. Our internal partner DB Training offers our employees more than 3,000 seminars and training courses. Through firmly established offers such as our NEXT LEVEL development programme, the company-wide DB Career Lab and succession planning, we show our employees possible development paths and actively promote individual potential - not only in management but also in specialist and project management careers. Through the DB Academy, we offer all three career paths a broad and inspiring range of learning, networking and motivational opportunities that are specifically tailored to their needs. We also support our managers in their specific challenges in everyday management through the company-wide leadership sparring. With our coffee-talk sessions, we specifically target women and support their networking within our company. 

Work-life balance 

We offer our employees many opportunities to improve their work-life balance, and we consult with employee representatives to constantly develop them further. With individual working time models, our employees can convert a share of their salary into additional days of annual leave or reduced working hours. Job sharing is also a possibility. If requested by employees, many full-time positions can be split between two qualified part-time employees. Not only can this be done for positions both subject to and not subject to collective bargaining agreements, it can also be done for management positions. We use established digital processes to give our employees the ability to work comfortably from home or while travelling. In addition, at DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung, we assist parents by providing helpful ways to ease their re-entry into professional life after parental leave and to help assist them in finding childcare facilities. What's more, our employees have the option of saving up their overtime hours or money in a long-term working time account, for example to take a sabbatical.
