Article: Meiningen maintenance depot
Since its foundation in 1914, our Meiningen steam locomotive maintenance depot has developed over the years into a centre of excellence for historic rail vehicles and special vehicles. Standard and narrow-gauge locomotives for DB AG, private railways, museum railways and railway associations from Germany and abroad are repaired here. Individual assemblies and components for historic steam locomotives from all over Europe, such as steam locomotive boilers, are also reconditioned or newly manufactured.
However, our steam locomotive maintenance depot not only provides strong tractive power, but also preserves a piece of railway romance by refurbishing historic rail vehicles.
In addition, our maintenance depot is an important contact point for operators of construction, recovery and railway service vehicles and carries out, among other things, deadline work and repairs on snow ploughs and snow blowers of DB Netz AG as well as on slewing rail cranes.
