Article: DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung opens online marketplace for railway supplies

At the beginning of April, railauction.plus – a new marketplace for railway supplies – was launched. This is aimed at companies in the industry throughout Europe. The marketplace offers easy access to all products of the railway industry on one platform. The idea behind it: The buying and selling of so-called rail assets is revolutionised.

A digital place for all rail assets

With railauction.plus, a platform is created where supply and demand meet and both sides can interact directly with each other. This increases transparency and efficiency on the market and simplifies trading in rail assets. Due to the prior verification of all registered users, railauction.plus is a safe place to sell and buy quickly and easily.

"At the moment, the market is still strongly geared towards personal contacts. As a new company, you either have to consider more expensive and less sustainable solutions, such as a new purchase, or buy used rail assets at a price set by the supplier", reports Manuel Dreher, Head of Online Business railauction.plus. At railauction.plus, you can access a large offer and thus buy at the best possible price, and securely too.

Resource-saving concept

"The market for spare parts and rail assets needs more transparency in order to make ideal use of potentials and, if possible, to extend the service life of used rail assets. This also conserves the earth's finite resources", Dreher points out. The overriding goal is to advance the sustainable transport transition. To do so together with all companies in the European railway industry – Europe-wide and at fair conditions.
