Akiem SAS and DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung have signed a contract for the overhaul of 35 class 189 (ES64F4) locomotives, the so-called Eurosprinters.

A graffiti artwork has given Cottbus' cityscape a new look. In addition to the Spremberg Tower, St. Nikolai's Church and the district court, the new ICE maintenance depot of DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung can be seen on the large-scale mural at the “Bunte Bahnhof” (colourful railway station).

The DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung maintenance depot in Cottbus will be complete by 2026. Construction work on the second new hall began with a symbolic ground-breaking ceremony on 4 March 2024. The first new hall went into operation in January.

A new hall for the maintenance of railway wagons and locomotives has been built at the Krefeld maintenance depot in around 18 months.

Less than 20 months after the ground-breaking ceremony and thus at record speed, DB officially opened the new ICE maintenance depot in Cottbus on 11 January 2024.

Digital technologies took centre stage at this year's DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung customer forum. In addition to informative presentations, the event also offered the opportunity for discussions and plant tours, followed by a get-together for informal dialogue.
